Make that special gift really special by wrapping it with a professional touch!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • sharp sissors
  • clear, adhesive tape
  • wrapping paper
  • ribbon
  • flat, clean surface
  1. Step 1

Choose a clean, dry, flat surface such as a counter top or a large table on which to place your wrapping paper and supplies.

  2. Step 2

Place wrapping paper near the edge of the center of the table. Place sissors, tape, and other items to your left or right according to whether you are left-handed or right-handed.

  3. Step 3

Place item to be wrapped on wrapping paper leaving enough paper to the right of the item to allow for ample coverage. For example, place a shirt box all the way to the right edge of the paper and then flip the box to the left one time. This would give you an idea of how much paper you will need to cover the box and a point at which to cut your wrapping paper from the roll.

  4. Step 4

Cut wrapping paper from roll and set roll aside. Place item upside down in the middle of the piece of cut wrapping paper. Bring right side of paper to middle of the item and tape it.

  5. Step 5

Pull wrapping paper tight and then crease the edges of the right side of the gift box by running your thumb and pointer finger along the edges. Bring the left side of paper to the middle of the item, fold the left edge down, and tape it over the right edge.

  6. Step 6

For the top end of the gift box pull the wrapping paper together at the outer edges and work your fingers back to the point where the paper meets near the top of the box. Make a crease in the paper at that point and cut it straight across.

  7. Step 7

Starting on the right side, fold the paper in towards the center of the top of the box and tape the paper down. Repeat this step for the left side. Next, crease the top flap, pull it down and cut it off just inside the top of the box. Trim the remaining flap, if necessary, and fold it to cover the top of the box. Repeat steps 6 & 7 for the bottom of the gift box.

  8. Step 8

Place a premade bow to the center of the box or make bow of your own. Other decorative items can be added to the box to give a more special effect. For example, if the gift is for a baby shower, a small baby rattle could be taped underneath the bow.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep paper pulled tight to give a crisp appearance to your wrap.
  • Always apply tape lenghtwise along the edge of the paper, not crosswise.
  • Using a good quality of wrapping paper adds luster and make it easier to pull the paper tight without tearing it.
  • Using a good quality of adhesive tape keeps the tape from distracting from the wrapping.
