How to Make Italian Iced Anise Cookies

Italian Anise cookies are also known as Italian Wedding cookies. These round white cookies are perfect for a bridal shower. With their light texture and pearly white icing, they make a beautiful display on your buffet table.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Anise
  • 1/2 lb. sweet butter
  • 4 cups flour (sifted)
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 lb. box confectioner's sugar
  1. Step 1

    Blend sugar and butter, add eggs and anise. Mix well.

  2. Step 2

    Add flour, baking powder and salt. Mix well. Roll into 1 inch balls and place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Do not allow to brown.

  3. Step 3

    Icing: 1 lb. box of confectioners sugar. Add 1/2 tsp of anise and 1/2 to 3/4 cup water to make an icing which is slightly thick. Dip cooled cookie in icing and lay on wax paper to drip dry.

Tips & Warnings
  • To add a little glitz to the cookie, sprinkle with Nonpareils.
