Making cookies from scratch typically requires many ingredients, but if you don't have a cookie mix on hand, it may seem your only option. However, ordinary cake mix can be used to make cookies too. Cake mix contains most of the dry ingredients that you add separately when you make cookies from scratch. You only need a few items from you pantry and refrigerator to make cookies from cake mix. Things You'll Need

  • Cooking oil spray
  • Mixing bowl
  • Rubber spatula
  • Hand mixer
  • 1 package of cake mix (any flavor)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup of oil
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 cup chocolate chips, candy pieces, nuts, raisins, oatmeal or coconut

Instructions

      Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly coat a baking sheet with cooking oil spray.

      Pour a box of cake mix into a mixing bowl. Add 1 large egg, 1 /4-cup oil and 1/4-cup water.

      Blend the contents of the mixing bowl with a hand mixer until they are well blended. Use a spatula to fold in 1 cup chocolate chips, candy pieces, nuts, raisins, oatmeal or coconut.

      Drop mixture 1 tsp. at a time on the baking sheet. Leave 1 inch between cookies so they have room to expand.

      Place your baking sheet in the oven. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of a cookie comes out dry.
