Things You'll Need:
- Good timing

Step 1
Did you know that you can spend less money shopping at department and speciality stores than you can at discount stores? It's true! You can save hundreds every season by shopping at the right time. Every retailer has clearance racks at specific times of the year, the key is to be there when the mark downs are happening, and to plan to shop for the next year. There are two times a year to get the best deals. The week following the Christmas holiday is when the winter clearance begins. This goes on all the way to early February but with every week that passes there will be less selection. Summer clearance begins the week of the Independence Day holiday and follows through to September.

Step 2
If you have children it pays to shop one year in advance. Of course the risk here is that you will have to estimate what size your child will be a year from now which isn't always easy. Take the time to look up some sizing charts on the internet. You can find ones that give you estimated sized based on their age, height, and weight.

Step 3
If next year the item doesn't fit all is not lost! If you have niece's and nephews these items could make future presents for them. You can also re-sell these items on ebay, at yard sales, or at flea markets. You may even make more money on it than you paid! People love finding clothes that still have the tags attached at yard sales and will snach them up!
