How to make Molasses Raisin Drop Cookies!

An old fashioned treat that's hard to beat if you like the flavour of molasses.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup black strap molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/ 2 cup chopped raisins
  • 1/2 cup sour milk
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 tespoon cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  1. Step 1

    Sour milk by putting 1/2 tablespoon white vinegar in a measuring cup and adding sweet milk to the 1/2 cup measure.

    Heat oven to 350 degrees. Butter cookie pans.

  2. Step 2

    Cream together the shortening and sugar. Blend in molasses. Beat egg and blend into the first mixture. Dissolve the baking soda in the sour milk.

    Mix together the flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt. Add the dry mixture alternately with the milk to the molasses mixture.

    Add raisins and blend well.

  3. Step 3

    Drop by teaspoonfuls onto prepared baking pans. Bake for approximately 12 minutes.

    Cool on racks. Enjoy!
