Step 1
Make sure you know the terms of the beat purchase. Most producers sell beats online by licensing, which means that they still hold rights to the beat. There are two different kinds of licensing, exclusive and non-exclusive.
-
Step 2
Know the differnce between non-exclusive and exclusive. When you buy a beat on an exclusive license, there is no limit to what you can do with the beat. You can include the beat on a for profit album, and sell unlimited copies without owing the producer royalties. When you buy a beat non-exclusively, there are many limitations. Most artists buy non-exclusive beats because they are cheaper. If they record a song with the beat that they like, they simply contact the producer to work out terms on buying the beat exclusively. Non exclusive beats are usually cheaper than exclusives.
-
Step 3
After buying the beat with the licensing features you need, you will simply purchase the beat by using PayPal, or another payment system. After paying for the beat, you should receive a link to download it. You should receive the link immediatley after your purchase.

on 8/28/2009 Buy beats from places that have there OWN website NOT just a soundclick page. If the producer is too cheap to buy his own website and promote to get traffic then they are not caring enough about what they do and are only trying to make a buck! Be careful of people who don't offer INSTANT DOWNLOAD this is 2009-2010 nobody wants to WAIT for there beat purchase.
I actually bought a beat from Ffaproductions from soundclick and found the delivery slow because it wasn't instant download. I actually can't remember the name of the beat because it was a few months ago but they only have like 6 beats...... THEN they come on HERE trying to SELF-PROMOTE, PLEASE go buy a website.
Do a search online there are may great sites, 20dollarbeats.com. Beatsonlock.com, ect, that offer alot of different styles and have there own site! ;)
