When I lived in a house which had comfrey growing in the yard, I made comfrey salve. It is reputedly good for reducing swelling caused by bruises, sprains and boils. It is also an antiseptic. The Amish nearby used comfrey for a multitude of minor problems.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

You will need equal parts of comfrey leaves, olive oil, and melted beeswax.

  2. Step 2

Chop comfrey leaves and add to olive oil. Warm over medium heat, but do not allow mixture to boil. Cover and let stand for 24 hours. Strain to remove the comfrey leaves. Add melted beeswax.

  3. Step 3

Spoon mixture into metal tins and cover with the tin lids. Store in cool place. Use an an antiseptic, on bruises, boils, and sprains.

Tips & Warnings
  • Mixture should, after beeswax cools, have the consistency of a salve.
  • Do not ingest.

on 8/28/2008 I usually replaced it after a year; i.e., when the new comfrey was ready to use.
