If you're trying to get off the phone with an incessant talker, or someone who you just don't want to talk to , there are ways to get off the phone quickly without being rude.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Say you have another call. This almost always works. "Can I call you back? I have another call."

  2. Step 2

If you have kids, you can make up a number of plausible excuses. You need to change a diaper. You have to stop a fight. They're spilling grape juice on the carpet.

  3. Step 3

You can say you're cooking "I have to go- my toast is burning"

  4. Step 4

Make sure your excuse, or lie if you prefer, is plausible and simple. Whatever it is, it has to be something that needs immediate attention, so there is no debating about ending the call or long goodby's.
