Step 1
Step 1 of creating a ringtone with DJ ToneXpressI will show you how you can do this in 3 easy steps with DJ ToneXpress, version 4.0 which is in my opinion, one of the best "do it yourself" ringtones software.
All that you need is a CD with your favorite songs and the latest version of DJ ToneXpress available for download from http://www.djtonexpress.com The price of a license is $17 but the great advantage is that you can make unlimited ringtones from your mp3s, .wma, .wav, .ogg or Audio CD files, for you and your friends, plus that you will have a lot of cool plugins to choose from.
Open the trial mode application, click the "Register" button to by a full version license and be able to make unlimited ringtones. You can also use the trial version as it is but at the end of the ringtone creation process, you will have to pay $2.99 for the ringtone in order to send it to your phone. As a registered user, you can save the ringtone file to your computer and transfer it to the phone by USB cable, Bluetooth or Infrared. This way you will save the networking fee to the carrier. Now that you are a registered user, lets start with step 1.
- Choose the song that you want to have as a ringtone.
Open DJ ToneXpress and click on the "Browse" button to choose the song you wish to ringtonize. -
Step 2
Step 2 of creating a ringtone with DJ ToneXpress- Choose the fragment that you want as a ringtone.
Next, you will see a graphically display of the song so that you can choose the fragment you want to have as a ringtone. You can only choose a maximum 1 minute fragment but I believe it is sufficient. The fade in/out effect I think it's very cool. You can also set the volume of the ringtone. -
Step 3
- Step3: download your new ringtone.
Now the only thing left to do is to download the newly created ringtone, on your mobile phone.
There are 2 ways to do this:
1. Download the ringtone directly to your phone, using your wap browser, so you will need to make sure you have Internet enabled on your phone.
2. Save the ringtone file to your computer and transfer it later to your phone by USB cable, Bluetooth or Infrared.
If you choose to download the ringtone directly to your phone, you have to access from your phone browser and input the download code created for your new ringtone.
If you want to transfer the ringtone yourself to the phone, you have to click on the link "Save Ringtone to My Computer" and then to choose the format of the ringtone. Most of the new phones can play mp3 ringtones so it is ok to choose mp3 if you are not sure about what kind of ringtones your phone can have. Also, some carriers may restrict you from downloading mp3 ringtones from 3rd party applications in order to force you to buy ringtones from them.
That's about is.
I hope you will enjoy creating ringtones just as much as I do.

on 8/17/2008 Thanks. Paying the $17 licensing fee sounds a lot cheaper than buying ringtones for $2.99 each that expire in a year, anyway.
You gave good directions. I get them and I'm am so not technically inclined!
