Step 1
Select a color scheme.
Tulips can be found in a brilliant array of colors from sunrise yellow to explosive reds and oranges as well as Rembrandt colors that resemble splashes of color dribbled on the petals. Less commonly, you can find tulips in shades of pink, peach, and purple. This gives you lots of latitude for choosing a color scheme. Select colors that compliment your existing porch furniture and accessories or create an explosion of color by using a variety of tulip colors. If your porch lacks color impact, tulips can quickly change that. -
Step 2
Place tulips in unusual pots.
Whatever tulip colors you use to decorate your porch, resist the urge to use standard flower pots. Try some creative options such as colorful drink pitchers, rusty pails, antique teapots, antique baskets, dramatic flower urns, or containers you've decorated with colorful mosaics. Unique containers will allow your tulips to stand out and catch the eye. -
Step 3
Add a tulip banner to the entrance of your porch.
Nothing looks more friendly and welcoming than a brightly colored banner with an oversized tulip in the middle. Hang this proudly at the entrance to your front porch so that it blows quietly in the wind. Brightly colored banners can really add considerable country character to a front porch. -
Step 4
Add a tulip welcome plaque.
Order a welcome plaque with emblems of tulips along with the name of your family inscribed on it. If you can't find these locally, you can buy custom ones online. Did you know a red tulip symbolizes love? What better message to send to your visitors and guests. -
Step 5
Hang a pot of tulips on the front door.
Buy a metal planter, fill it with colorful tulips, and attach it to the front door. This adds an unexpected but creative country touch to any front porch entrance.
