How to Understand the Anti-Aging Skin Benefits of Retinol
Most women and men want to look younger but aren't sure what will help. Retinol, part of the retinoid family of medicines, can. Retinoids have been studied for decades and proven to be effective; they're used for everything from treating sun damage to smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
Retinol is derived from vitamin A, an antioxidant. Skin contains enxymes, which act as vitamin A converters. When vitamin A or retinoids are applied to the skin, these enzymes convert and use the vitamin A-derived retinoic acid. The resultant increased skin cell turnover leaves you with younger looking skin.

1
Retinol produces elastin. When the small molecular structure of vitamin A in retinol penetrates to the lower layers of skin, elastin is produced. Elastin makes the skin look firmer and more youthful.

2
Retinol stimulates collagen production. Increased collagen production will plump up fine lines and wrinkles, reduce the appearance of pores and diminish sun damage, resulting in younger looking skin.

3
Retinol turns over new skin cells. The exfoliation effect of increased cellular turnover smooths and softens skin and improves its tone and texture.
