How to Keep Dogs Cool, Preventing and Treating Heat Stroke
The sun & heat effect dogs the same way it effects us humans , BUT a dog can't help himself. It is up to us as his owner & friend to keep them cool on hot days. Dogs don't have sweat gland & they cool off by panting. The heat can kill your dog faster than it will kill a person . Be a good owner & do everything you can to prevent your dog from getting overheated

SHADE
Alway have a shaded area where your dog can lay during the day. -

WATER
Provide you dog with a LARGE bowl or bucket of clean cool water , It is best to provide 2 to 3 times more water than a dog can drink in a day. It is best to have to much water than not enough. -

When it is hot ,Limit your dog's outdoor time. The hottest hours are between 10 and 4. Bring him in the house where it is cooler. Have a fan on the floor so he can lay in front of it

Kiddie Pool
Get a cheap kiddie pool at a discount store , fill it with water & let him play in it. -

IN THE CAR
NEVER LEAVE A DOG IN A CAR ! ! !. If you have to leave your dog in a car , only do it for a shot time. Tie your dog securelly to a door handle & leave the window down all the way , or leave a door open. With the dog securelly tied he will not run off & the car will not over heat as fast. BUT remember , Don't leave him there for more than 10 minutes & have a bowl of water so he can get a drink.
I know some of you will say "If I leave the window down or the door open , someone will steal the car , the dog or stuff i have in the car". Then put valuables in the trunk. Use a small pad lock on the leash at the door handle & at the collar.
The best thing is NEVER to take your dog ANYWHERE that he is not welcome & you won't have to leave him in the car. -

TREAT HEAT STROKE
If your dog get overheated , he can get HEAT STROKE
1) Get him out of the sun2)Wet your dog down any way you can FAST , Use a hose , a lake , river or stream.
3) Get them some water to drink FAST4)If you think he needs it , take the dog to the vet after you have cooled him down with water
