Things You'll Need:

  • Positive Attitude and Mindset
  • Willingness to Change Your Beliefs about Success
  1. Step 1

Check to see if you have a fear of success. Read the eHow article, "How to Tell If You Have a Fear of Success".

  2. Step 2

Develop your own definition of success. Visualize yourself achieving goals according to this definition.

  3. Step 3

Learn to pat yourself on the back when you achieve something-no matter how small the accomplishment.

  4. Step 4

Inventory every success you've achieved in your lifetime. This can be a lengthily list so just do a data dump (write everything down on paper as a thought comes to you; then categorize it if you desire).

  5. Step 5

Refuse to blame yourself or feel guilty about any success opportunities you may have overlooked or missed.

  6. Step 6

Find a success partner-someone you trust to give you open and honest feedback when you start to give into your fear of success.

  7. Step 7

Accept all compliments, recognition and honors that come your way. Refrain from engaging in false humility or downplaying what you did to be rewarded.

  8. Step 8

Reach out to others and help them to be successful. Refuse to be envious or jealous about their accomplishments.

  9. Step 9

Make a fresh and renewed commitment to succeed in all you do.
