Instructions

    • 1

Prepare the ground for your flagstone path first. Use your shovel or hard-headed rake to clear the path ground of any small plants, rocks, or other bumpy pieces.

    • 2

Spread out a load of topsoil over the area you plan to put your path. This is especially true if there are a lot of roots in the area. Providing a level surface for your country style flagstone path is important.

    • 3

Place the flagstones. Begin at one end of the path and work your way to the other. Position the rocks so that the edges form a relatively straight edge where you want the garden to begin.

    • 4

Leave spaces or cracks between the stones. If there are large spaces that occur, these can be filled in with smaller pieces of broken flagstone or with the creeping ground covers.

    • 5

Plant small, creeping plants between the flagstones. One easy way to do this is to scatter seeds over the path and let them grow where they will between the stones. You can also plant ground cover plants in the open spaces between the rocks.
