Parrots need a varied diet and one of the ways you can keep them interested in eating good foods is to prepare it for them! Yes, this can lead to some spoiled birdies, but that's okay too!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pancake Mix
  • flat surface for cooking (grill or skillet)
  • Additions to the pancakes that is healthy for parrots: pellets, fruit, vegetables.
  • Spatula for flipping the pancakes
  1. Step 1

Heat up your grill or skillet to have it ready for the pancake mix. You may want to use a touch of oil to keep the pancakes from sticking.

  2. Step 2

Prepare your pancake mix as you would for human consumption. Add in your desired addition of either pellets for parrots, fruit or some chopped vegetables. You only want ONE of these options. Mix well.

  3. Step 3

Your grill should be about ready for making pancakes but you may want to test it out by making a mini pancake. When hot, go ahead and pour the pancakes on your grill. Flip when bubbly and the bubbles start to pop.

  4. Step 4

Put cooked pancakes on a plate to cool. You will want to serve these to your parrots when still warm. Just tear them into small pieces or cut them with a knife. They will love them!

Tips & Warnings
  • Varying your additions will keep your parrot(s) interested in eating pancakes. Most birds love bread-like products anyway and the addition of fruits, vegetables and even pellets make the food a bit of a surprise.
  • Do not serve immediately as you could cause a burn to your parrot's mouth.
  • You should remove all cooked foods from your parrot's cage within a few hours so bacteria doesn't start to form.
