Writing for the adult industry is a lucrative way to make money as a writer. Whether you are interested in writing extremely explicit stories and articles, or simply working as a "texter" sending friendly, flirtatious text messages (and getting paid) to paying customers, learning how to get paid to write pornography is yet another tool for work-at-home folks looking for steady writing gigs.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • internet connection
  • chat software (MEEBO, Yahoo Instant Messenger, or other proprietary software)
  1. Step 1

Buy a number of pornographic or adult magazines that purchase stories and articles. Read through these magazines to get an idea of what they want to buy.

  2. Step 2

Look through The Writer's Market, an industry book for writers that details how, exactly, to sell articles and stories to specific markets. playboy, for instance, is listed in The Writer's Market, as is Hustler's Busty Beauties and other less-known--but paying--pornography markets.

  3. Step 3

Write one story that you think might sell for one of these markets. Follow the suggested steps in The Writer's Market and send it in. Even writing a short "Forum" article with the possibility of earning $50 or $100 is a worthwhile try.

  4. Step 4

Become a "texter"--for pay. Adult industry sites hire people to send text messages or chat messages to paying clients. Like phone sex operators, adult texters are expected to flirt and engage the client in sexually-explicit messages. You get paid by the text--normally around $.10 per text--and the money can add up quickly.

  5. Step 5

Become a "chatter" as well. Just like texting, you can earn a flat rate per line of chat, and adult chats can be as long as the client likes.

  6. Step 6

Publish your own website. post your own adult writings, get an AdSense account with Google AdSense, and earn ad revenue from your writings. You need to be careful, though, because some webhosting companies will not allow adult material.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use pseudonyms when working in the adult industry.
  • Never do anything that makes you uncomfortable in text or chat.

on 11/8/2008 Really interesting article. If I were single, the texting job would be a fantastic thing to do because of how...interactive the writing. I have dabbled into erotica and applied for a few sex columns. I am thinking about starting an adult blog under a different name and working on that. Of course, I have some sexual articles on eHow in my name...eh...

Thanks for the article!
