This article will discuss how to calculate the odds of a poker player hitting one of his outs after the flop.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Lets suppose that you are playing a hand of texas hold em' and you want to be able to figure out your odd of hitting one of your outs on the turn or the river. The first thing you will need to do is figure out how many outs you have in the deck that will better your hand.

  2. Step 2

Lets say that you have 7 outs to better your hand after the flop. The first calculation you need to make is 7(# of outs) X 2 X 2(the number of cards left to come).

    7 X 2 X 2 = 28%

  3. Step 3

This means that you have a 28% chance of bettering your hand. Now lets say that the turn does not help you whatsoever. Now the second calculation is 7(# of outs) X 2 X 1(Cards to come).

    7 X 2 X 1 = 14%

  4. Step 4

This means that you have a 14% chance of bettering your hand on the river. This simple calculation will help you put some tough decisions into perspective. Good Luck
