Step 1
Oral Enema
Upon awakening, the lemonade diet regimen asks that you drink a so called "salt-water flush" to incite a bowel movement. This flush has been referred to as an "oral enema" because it flushes the entire digestive tract and colon usually in less than one hour.
It helps the body clear out plaque, parasites and debris from the walls of the intestines.
This flush consists of two teaspoons of un-iodized sea salt with a quart of lukewarm water.
The enormous amount of salt, with its high amount of gravity, pushes the water through the entire body, dragging with it amazing amounts of feces from the body many which could have been in your body for years.
Drink it quickly because, honestly, it is not very tasty. You should have a bowel movement in as little as 15 minutes or as long as two hours. If you do not, then you need to add more salt when you drink the flush the "following day."
Do not drink another flush the same day if the first one did not produce a result. Have patience and give your body time.
If, over the course of several days, you find that you still do not have a bowel movement, then you may have a more serious condition and should see a gastroenterologist. By the way, this type of water flush can be used during any type of fasting and cleansing procedure, even prior to a colonic and/or enema.
The only other beverage permitted during the Master Cleanse Diet is un-fluoridated water and peppermint tea.
While on the master cleanse diet program you should experience three or more bowel movements per day. Let us now move on to the Lemonade Detox Diet ingredients and other pointers to help you get started. -
Step 2
Lemonade Detox Diet - The Lemonade Detox Diet - Ingredients & Getting Started
Here is a breakdown of the main ingredients involved in the lemonade detox diet and their specific function:
Maple Syrup - No Pancakes. Maple syrup is indispensable because it supplies the body with calories, vitamins and minerals. There are different grades of maple syrup: Grade A, mild and with less minerals. This is the first one that comes out of the maple tree and is the most expensive.
The lemonade detox diet uses Grade B maple syrup which has more minerals, vitamins, maple taste and you can get Here. Grade C maple syrup is the least expensive and is the one you can often grab from most supermarket shelves for Sunday morning pancakes. -
Step 3
Maple Syrup - Not Honey
It is NOT recommended that you trade maple syrup for honey. Why? Because honey enters the blood directly and raises sugar content and energy rapidly. But this "pick-me-up" you receive from honey will come at a price. I used sugar in one occasion and the following day I felt like a zombie. The cravings for sugar also got stronger and I nearly succumbed to a six pack of donuts. Please, don't do it.
The lemonade detox diet and fasting is enough challenge in and of itself. No reason to make it harder than it has to be. You will end up experiencing a crash that will leave you feeling worse than before.
There are many who say the honey in sugar is actually damaging to the human body because it is first "digested" by bees in the comb - thus becoming processed food of sorts.
That honey actually is "waste" from the bee's body - a type of bee feces, if you will. That argument is simply too tasteless for me. Still, we are not here to get into a debate for or against honey. Again, all I can suggest is that you stick to the plan as outlined.
Do not try to re-invent the wheel, particularly if this is your first exposure to fasting for weight loss and detoxification. The lemonade detox diet works quite well exactly as it has been designed. Maple syrup, on the other hand, is absorbed more slowly by the body and has actual nutrients that honey, as pure sugar, does not.
Again, stick to the lemonade detox diet and fasting program as it is written. Do not bring more discomfort upon yourself than you need to. Later on, once you are a pro, you will have time to experiment. -
Step 4
Lemon and the Master Cleanse Diet
Lemons contain so called Bioflavonoids. Bioflavonoids are a group of plant pigments or "phenolic compounds" responsible for the color of many flowers and fruits. Citrus Bioflavonoids are also found in other citrus fruits such as orange, tangerine and grapefruit.
The Bioflavonoids in citrus possess antioxidants that help fight disease by neutralizing free radicals that damage body tissue and can lead to heart disease, strokes and cancer. Bioflavonoids also contain anti-aging properties.
The high Vitamin C content in citrus fruit as lemons has been hailed by alternative medicine practitioners to be vital in the strengthening of the digestive and immune systems. -
Step 5
Cayenne Pepper
The Lemonade Detox Diet includes cayenne pepper because it breaks up mucus that adheres itself to different parts of the body, including the intestinal walls. Herbalists say it has been used as a tonic to help blood circulation.
Cayenne pepper is also said to warm up the blood stream and thus provide additional energy. Studies have shown that cayenne pepper can help rebuild stomach tissue by assisting the intestines in the elimination and assimilation process.
It is a high source of vitamins A, C, complete B Complex,. calcium and potassium. I personally am very intrigued by this pepper and its medicinal uses. If you want more information, look up some excellent Wikipedia Cayenne Pepper articles. -
Step 6
A Few Pointers to Consider
When toxins are mobilized out of your body, you may have cravings for the very same type of food that is causing the most toxicity in your body. Say, for example, that you overindulged in pepperoni pizza. I did! It is possible that the cravings, at their height, will kindle fantasies of the taste of pepperoni and cheese melting in your mouth as you chew.
Don't give up. These cravings will disappear after your next bowel movement. If the bowel movements feel hot, then your body toxins will tend to be highly acidic. Other detox symptoms include tiredness, irritability, aches, pains, nausea, vomiting and headaches. You will know that the detoxification process has come to a successful conclusion when all symptoms disappear, particularly the white coating of the tongue and bad breathe that often results.
Your body is now free of toxins and you have a brand new lease on life. But the process is not over.
Let us now go to Part Three of this series where we will see how to properly break the Lemonade Master Cleanse Detox Diet.
