How to Make A Spicy Tomato Sauce!

This tomato sauce can be used where any such sauce is called for. It has an addition of hot sauce that perks up any dish.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 pounds of ripe tomatoes, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons tomato puree
  • 1 large spanish onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 3 carrots, pealed and chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Bottled Hot Sauce to taste
  1. Step 1

    Combine the tomatoes, tomato puree, carrots, onion, celery, garlic, parsley and lemon rind in a heavy saucepan.

  2. Step 2

    Simmer for one hour, watching carefully, and stirring often.

  3. Step 3

    Remove mixture from the heat and press through a sieve. Add salt and pepper to taste and return to heat, simmering until thickened. Sprinkle gradually with Hot Sauce, tasting often. Stir in the butter and serve. Enjoy!
