How to take care of your small pond (under 200 gallons)

So you have your pond up and running. But you wonder when and how to keep it looking clean and healthy..... Follow these instructions and your pond will give you years of enjoyment.

  • Buckets for removing water from pond
  • water supply
  • water conditioning drops
  • replacement sponges or pad inserts for your filter

      Remove approximately 20% of the water from your pond using a bucket. Or if you have a good filter system that will pull the water out for you use it :)

      Clean your filter and replace any sponges or filter inserts.

      Replace water and treat with water conditioner for the appropriate gallons.

Tips & Warnings

  • If it rains frequently you may not have to do water changes. Just remove water when the pond level rises too high and clean the filter. Rain water added to the pond helps keep the water healthy and chemically balanced.

  • If using tap water to replenish your pond remember to use water conditioner. Chlorine kills fish.
