Publish a Google doc to your blog!

If you have documents in your Google Documents account that you would like to publish to your blog, there are just a few simple steps to accomplish this. You will need to configure your blog settings in your Google Docs account. These instructions will show you how to publish a Google document to your blog.

From Quick Guide: Intro to Blog Tools
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sign into your Google Docs account. If you do not have a Google account, please see the Resources section for links to opening up a Google Docs account. Click on "Settings" in the upper-right-hand menu.

  2. Step 2

Go to the "Blog Settings" section and click on "Edit Info". This will bring up a pop-up box called "Blog Site Settings".

  3. Step 3

Complete the Blog Site Settings box. If your blog has an existing blog service such as Blogger.com, Livejournal.com or Wordpress.com, choose the blog service from the drop-down menu. If you use your own server or a custom server for your blog, you will need to enter your API and complete URL site path for your blog. Your username, password and blog title will need to be input as well. Click "Ok". You are now done filling in your Blog settings.

  4. Step 4

Go back to your Google Docs account. Check the name or names of the document or documents you would like to publish to your blog.

  5. Step 5

Right-click on the "Share" menu item and choose "More Actions". Next, choose "Publish". Choose "Post to Blog". The time and date of the document posting will be displayed once the document is published to the blog.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can remove or revise a document that you have previously published to your blog. Go to the "Edit" page of the original document. Click on "Share". Click on "Publish". Once on the Publish tab, click on "Republish Post" if you want to post a revised version of a document. If you want to remove the document from your blog, click on "Remove from Blog".
