Things You'll Need:
- Wire brush
- Soap & Water
- Naval jelly
- Oil-based paint

Step 1
Use a wire brush to remove all of the loose rust.

Wash the surface that you are going to be cleaning with soap and water. Work the surface in a circular motion and dry thoroughly after cleaning to make sure that all loose rust is removed.

Step 3
Apply the naval jelly with an applicator to the rusted surface once the it has been prepared. Naval jelly will remove the paint on your boat.

Step 4
Allow the naval jelly to penetrate the rusted surface for 10 minutes.

Step 5
Rinse off the naval jelly with a thick wet towel. Dry the surface with a dry towel.

Step 6
Repaint and protect your boat from further rusting. After the use of naval jelly it is recommended that you use an oil-based paint.
