How to Do a Hand Plant in Skateboarding
A hand plant is a really cool trick that you can pull on quarter pipes, half pipes or right on the street. It is the kind of trick that is not technically difficult, but does require coordination and the ability to stand on your hand. If you can balance on your hands, the trick will be easy to perform.
Instructions

1
Ride on your skateboard at a slow speed.
-
2
Grab your board with the hand you aren't going to plant with and step off your board front foot first.
-
-
3
Swing your board into the air behind you as you plant your other hand on the ground.
-
4
Kick off the ground with your feet and roll up into the hand plant position. You have to get yourself vertical very quickly and concentrate on balancing your body over a center position. Make yourself completely vertical and perpendicular to the ground to get a better hand stand.
-
5
Locate the board with your feet. You will have to feel for it and coordinate your feet with your skateboard hand. Bring the two together, position your feet on the board flat, as if riding the skateboard. Hold the board to your feet with your hand.
-
6
Fall forward onto the board, letting your body tilt and come over naturally. Next, snap your feet back down, crouching your body and landing on the board flat.

Tips & Warnings
You can do a hand plant many different ways. There are boneless hand plants, where you don't put your feet on the board while it is over your head, as well as, several hand plant variations you can do on a half pipe. Coordinating your hand stand and foot work might take some time to master. You need to bend your knees while they are over your head to get the board back under your feet. Use your body to get the board back down to the street while it is still under your feet.
A hand plant can turn into a face plant rather quickly. Concentrate on keeping your hand and leg work steady to avoid injury to your arms or head.
