How to Use Honey to Heal Scars
For centuries honey has been believed to contain many healing powers. One of the most commonly held beliefs is that honey has strong healing capability. Unlike other treatments, honey retains moisture well. By keeping the recovering skin tissue moist, honey helps skin cells to regenerate and return to normal. Here are several steps you can take to use honey to heal your scars.

1
Wash the wound with soap and water. Allow the area to dry before applying honey. Next, prepare a piece of gauze equal to the size of the wound.
-
2
Apply one to two teaspoons of honey to the gauze. Spread the honey thinly to cover the gauze. However, it should not be so thin that it dries out.

3
Lay the piece of gauze, honey side down, on your wound. Adjust the gauze so the entire scar is covered. This will give you the most amount of honey coverage for your wound.
-
4
Put a second layer of gauze down over your scar. This helps keep the dressing dry, soaking up excess honey through the gauze. Apply a strip of tape over the gauze so that it will stay in place as it applies its healing power directly to the scarred area on your skin.

Repeat these steps every 12 hours. It is important to replace the honey and gauze regularly in order to supply your skin with the maximum amount of healing help. Keep this schedule going for up to three weeks or until you are comfortable enough with the results. Ultimately, the scar tissue should be back to a normal color.
