Instructions

    • 1

Open both packages of polymer clay. Take a small chunk of the white polymer clay. Work it in the palm of your hand until it is soft. Then roll it into a ball. The ball can be any size, but both balls used for one polymer candy cane should be as close to the same size as possible. Repeat the softening and ball step with the red clay.

    • 2

Take one of the balls and set it on a smooth work surface. With the palm of your hand, roll the ball back and forth on the surface of the plate while pushing down gently with your palm. You are rolling the ball into an elongated snake shape. Repeat with the other ball. Try to keep the canes about the same width and length.

    • 3

Pick up both snake pieces of polymer clay. Gently twist them around each other. Then set the twisted snake on the plate again and roll them the same way you did to make the snake pieces. Make them as smooth or as bumpy as you like.

    • 4

Take a small sharp knife and trim the now two colored rolled single pieces on each end to make a blunt straight cut.

    • 5

Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the package of the polymer clay. Take the rolled cane and curve at the top as you set it on the cookie sheet to bake, so that it looks like a real candy cane. Bake as per package instructions. Let cool. The polymer clay candy cane will be hard after it bakes and cools.
