How to Use Emu Oil to Treat Ear Lobe Gauging

How to Use Emu Oil to Treat Ear Lobe Gauging thumbnail
Emu oil increases blood flow to promote healing.

Emu oil comes from the fats of the Australian bird and is a great way to promote healing of minor injuries or minor skin conditions. The oil is used to treat stretch marks and eczema as well as to promote healing in tattoos and piercings. Gauging is a particularly tricky activity since you are stretching skin beyond the normal, natural bounds. If you enjoy this form of body modification, then emu oil could be ideal to protect your ears and keep your skin from drying out or tearing. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Apply the emu oil to a freshly gauged ear as often as needed to relieve dryness.

    • 2

Massage the oil into the skin around the piercing until it is absorbed.

    • 3

Reapply often, especially just before and after you switch sizes.

    • 4

Apply the oil when you take your old piercing out, making sure to get at the skin around the inside of the piercing. This may help your new piercing go in, easier as well as help your ear heal faster and better.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wait a few weeks between changing sizes or you risk tearing your ears!
