Decide which color bows you will be using, and purchase that color ribbon. A thinner ribbon is suggested, because ribbon that is too thick is difficult to work with. Choose one that is about 1/2 inch wide or less.

Cut the ribbon into 3-inch pieces. The length of your cut ribbon will determine the size of your bows, but in most cases 3 inches is a good number.

Lay one of your cut ribbon pieces out in front of you, horizontally.

Pick up each of the ends and cross them over each other. Use the example here as a guide.

Wrap the rubber band through the center of the bow, vertically. This is how the bow will take on its shape.

Make any necessary adjustments to your bow, and it is already for your pet. Attach the bow to your pet's head using a second rubber band to secure it.

You can add embellishments to your pet bow by attaching beads or other items with hot glue.
