Martial arts has always been important in the Asian world, and its reach extends over the entire world now. Most martial arts imply that honor is very important. This, of course, would have to include honor in how you appear to others. Therefore, looking the part of a martial artist is very important. Knowing how to tie your Tand Soo Do belt is very important to your overall appearance.

Instructions

    • 1

Fold your belt directly in half in order to find the exact center of the belt. Once you have located the center of the belt, place the center on your stomach.

    • 2

Wrap both ends around your hips and to your back. Ensure the belt is around your hips and not much higher because this could restrict breathing. Cross the ends of the belt in the back and bring them back around and to your front.

    • 3

Cross the end of the belt in your right hand over the end of the belt in your left hand once you have brought both ends back to your front.

    • 4

Switch the ends of the belts to the opposite hands once you have crossed the two ends in the front (if you haven't already done this). Now take the end of the belt that is in your left hand (which was in your right hand before crossing the ends in the front) and slip it under the entire belt that is wrapped around your waist.

    • 5

Pull both ends of the belt up and down in order to tighten it. Ensure that the ends are about equal lengths at this point. Once this is complete, one end of the belt should be on top and the other on bottom. Hold the top end in your left hand, and the bottom end in your right.

    • 6

Take the belt end in your right hand and bend it towards your left hand. The end in your right hand should be under the end in your left. Bend the left end over the right end and push it up through the knot hole that is formed when crossing the two ends.

    • 7

Pull both ends tightly to ensure that the knot stays in place. The only thing left to do is enjoy your training.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make sure belt is tight around the waist to ensure it stays in place and doesn't cut off breathing.

  • Most belts should not be washed, so take care not to dirty your belt up.
