The "Gilligan's Island" theme song isn't the only popular part of the classic television show watched by millions, both the original run and for decades via syndication. Gilligan was played in the original series, and its updated television films, by Bob Denver, a comedic talent of great abilities. The lost-at-sea gang would have gotten off the island soon after arrival, but Gilligan kept screwing things up episode after episode. Everybody loves Gilligan anyway and he's a fun character to dress up as for Halloween, especially if your party takes place on a boat or cruise ship.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wear a big floppy white hat. Gilligan loved his hat. It was a part of his daily life so make sure to wear the big hat.

  2. Step 2

Cut your hair short. If your hair is not dark, wear a short, brunette wig. Gilligan somehow always kept his hair nice and cut neatly so be sure to do the same.

  3. Step 3

Wear a fitted red shirt with long sleeves. It should have a white collar that can be kept unkempt. This is an essential part of the costume.

  4. Step 4

Wear a pair of blue pants. Light blue jeans will work well to imitate the look from the television show. Gilligan was only headed for a three hour tour. He wasn't planning on wearing these clothes for all occasions casual and formal for years to come. Keep it simple.

  5. Step 5

Sport a pair of white sneakers or white casual flats. Make sure to wear matching white socks. Gilligan needs to be ready to run away when attacked by the others on the island for screwing everything up.

  6. Step 6

Wear a relic from the S.S. Minnow. It could be a life preserver or something smaller and more subtle, like an umbrella drink in a coconut shell. It's a nice authentic touch to a Gilligan costume, though. You want to be thorough and true to the zaniness of this character and show.

Tips & Warnings
  • Have a group of friends dress as the whole cast from "Gilligan's Island." This will be a really fun group to be on Halloween or at any costume party.
