Learn how to make fresh floral arrangements for bridal bouquets, floral centerpieces or just for fun. Flower gardeners, pay attention. Create lovely bouquets with fresh flowers by following these instructions.

From Quick Guide: Bouquet Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Fresh flowers
  • Wide ribbon
  • Sandwich bag
  • Fridge
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Decide which flowers you want to use in your bouquet. Consider the length of the stems, as it is hard to mix flowers with long and short stems. Even if the flowers naturally have long stems, you might choose to cut them short, like for small bridesmaid bouquets.

  2. Step 2

Cut all of the flowers you wish to use in your fresh bouquet. Initially, make the stems longer than you desire, so that you have room to work with them.

  3. Step 3

Hold the securely flowers in your hand to arrange them by length to shape the bouquet.

  4. Step 4

Begin to wrap the ribbon around the fresh floral arrangements. Wrap the ribbon around 8 to 10 times, until they are securely bound. Use scissors to cut a smooth end at the bottom of the bouquet and place that end in a plastic sandwich bag with a damp paper towel or silicon beads and water.

  5. Step 5

Continue wrapping the ribbon around to secure the sandwich bag and keep the moisture inside.

  6. Step 6

Tuck the end of the ribbon in when you're done wrapping the fresh flower bouquets. You could also use a straight pin to secure the end if the ribbon is too slippery.

Tips & Warnings
  • Store the fresh flower bouquets in the fridge until you're ready to use them.
  • If you're making floral centerpieces, don't bother with the ribbon. Just put the fresh flowers in a vase.
  • Heat can wilt your fresh flowers, so prepare your fresh floral arrangements in a cool room, out of direct sunlight.
