1
Follow the same type of music. If you’ve ever been to a skate park then you know that the skater crowd listens to underground or local bands. By following the same music that he does, you’ll automatically have something to talk about with your guy.
-
2
Express an interest in his activities. He is a skater and that means at some point you’ll need to actually talk about skating and know more than just Tony Hawk’s name. Listen for his interests and then try to learn more about them, maybe he can even teach you.

3
Ask him for tips or advice or better yet tell him you want to learn how to skateboard. By asking him for help you’re expressing and interest in him and his activities. After all, you could ask anyone for help. It’s even better if you actually want to learn and show him when you get better.
-
4
Show off one of your own skills in front of him. Maybe you’re not a skateboarding pro, but must be a skill you can show off. Even if it’s just an impression or a great singing voice, show him what you’ve got and get ready for him to be impressed.
-
5
Compliment him on one of his tricks or tell him that you’ve never seen anyone do it before. Everyone loves compliments and your skater guy is no exception. The next time he does a great trick, let him know how great you thought it was and impress him even more by calling it by the right name.

Tips & Warnings
Be yourself above all else. It doesn’t matter if he’s a skater boy, a preppy boy or a musician you still want someone to like you for you. If you try and change yourself just to fit in with his crowd, you might lose yourself in the process.
If you’re going to hop on a skateboard and you’ve never done it before, be careful. Always make sure to wear a helmet and pads too just in case you take a header off your board.
