How to Hide an Eyebrow Piercing

Many people need to hide their body piercing, especially those with their eyebrow pierced. There are some public venues where you need to remove these and some medical tests that can’t be done with metal in your body. The good thing is that there are several different ways you can hide an eyebrow piercing, and no one will ever know you had it done.

Things You'll Need

  • Acrylic retainer
  • Barbell with clear balls
  • Fishing line
  • Bandage

Instructions

    • 1

Use an acrylic retainer. A number of different companies make these small acrylic pieces, designed to hide a body piercing. They slide right into the piercing to keep it open, but won’t set off metal detectors or break any laws.

    • 2

Change out your existing hoop or barbell for one with clear balls on either end. These pieces of jewelry work well to cover up the piercing and keep it hidden from public view. You still have the metal piece inside the piercing, but the clear ends blend into your skin tone.

    • 3

Unscrew the balls on the end of your existing barbell for a quick fix solution. If you need to hide your eyebrow piercing from a nosy grandma or co-worker, just unscrew the ends. The metal bar will still be inside your eyebrow, but you’ll be able to hide it better.

Sterilize a small piece of fishing line and slide it into the piercing after first taking out your jewelry. Professional piercers recommend this tip for those that need to remove their body piercing for their job. You simply remove your eyebrow jewelry, slide in the fishing line, and change things out when needed.

Cover up the area with a bandage if you just need to hide it for a short period of time. Of course, you’ll need to come up with a good story about why you have a bandage on your head, but you can always tell people it’s a bug bite. This way you don’t need to take out the jewelry first.

Tips & Warnings

  • Depending on the length and style of your hair, you may be able to hide your eyebrow piercing by rearranging your hair.

  • Absolutely do not take out your original jewelry for at least six weeks after you had the piercing done! It takes at least this long for the piercing to heal. If you try to replace it with anything else before that time, you risk infection and serious problems.
