How to Make a MySpace Music WAV File Smaller

WAV files of any kind can be unnecessarily big, especially those from MySpace Music. Shrinking down a MySpace Music WAV file is an easy process but does take a little bit of work. You'll also need to use a few different programs to complete the process. Simply put, one would probably be better off just downloading the file in MP3 format. Nevertheless, you can make the MySpace WAV file smaller by following the steps listed below.

Instructions

1. Log onto the MySpace music page with the file you wish to shrink.

2. Download the music file. Many artists allow you to simply click the “download” link next to a particular song. If that isn't the case, you can download any MySpace music file by using file2hd.com (see Resources below). The file will download as an MP3.

3. Download and install an MP3 converter. There are several of these programs which can be found by using your favorite search engine. You can also use the Resources below to find a couple of converters.

4. Use the converter to turn the mp3 file back into a WAV. How you go about this will be determined by which converter you download or have installed onto your computer.

5. Click the “Start” button on the bottom toolbar of your computer. From there, select “Programs” then “Accessories,” “Entertainment” and finally “Sound Recorder.”

6. Open the WAV file with Sound Recorder. Allow the file to finish playing.

7. Click “File,” then “Save As.” Choose a different location for this WAV file. Then, select the “Change” tab found at the bottom of the “Save As” box. The tab will be to the far right of the “Format” option.

8. Select “PCM” for the Format and “8.000 kHz, 8 bit, Mono, 7kb/sec” for the Attributes. Click “OK.” Save the file as you would any other file and you're all set.
