How to Acquire the Secret Character Bleu in Breath of Fire 2

Playing a cameo role from the original Breath of Fire game, Bleu is a massively powerful spellcaster who will become the backbone of your party if you choose to go through the trouble of finding her. The game itself never gives any clues as to how to acquire Bleu, so follow these steps to get her in your party.

Things You'll Need

  • Breath of Fire 2 SNES game
  • Super Nintendo Entertainment System
  • Play through the game until you reach the point where the party gains the ability to call on the great whale for traveling around the ocean.

  • Call on the great whale and travel to the island that also contains the tomb where all of the thieves are training their skills. If you leave from the beach where you first gain the ability to call on the whale, you will need to travel south along the coastline and then east once you hit the bottom of the landmass. From there go slightly north until you see a beach entrance.

  • Walk on the beach until you find a spot on the ground that has a slightly raised circle. If you are entering from the beach entrance it should be five steps north and two to the east. When you walk on that section of the ground, you will be transported to a small house.

  • Go through the house and speak with the ghosts there, who will tell you that the magician named Bleu lives here but that she is not home.

  • Leave Bleu's house and take the whale back to the town called "Hometown." Go into the magic school and head up to the second floor. Enter the classroom on the left side and speak with the girl in the back row. She will drop the magic disguise she has been wearing and reveal that she is actually Bleu. She will then join the group as a playable character.

Tips & Warnings

  • Bleu has more hit points and access to more powerful spells than Nina, so you may want to replace Nina with Bleu.
