Things You'll Need:
- Tight Jeans or leather pants.
- Pair of scissors
- Pink, red, orange, blue, purple, or green hair dye (you choose the color)
- Hair gel or wax (Choose hair wax if you want big spiky hair)
- Eye shadow. Blues and purples work well for the punk look.
- Black eyeliner
- Punk band T-shirt or plain t-shirt for distressing
- Jean jacket/vest or leather jacket/vest
- Safety pins
- Fabric paint (optional)
- Heavy black boots, such as combat boots.
- Chains and metal studs for adorning clothes and boots
- Temporary or permanent tattoos
-
Step 1
Take a regular pair of skinny jeans, or even leather pants, and slice some holes in them. Add metal studs and chains if desired--chains and studs can go anywhere on the fabric. The chains or studs can be sewn to the pants or attached by safety pins. Using fabric paint, you can paint graphics, such as anarchy symbols, on the jeans as well. One common way to make pants punk, is to cut some holes in the pants and then pin the holes shut with several safety pins. Do this in several places on the fabric and you've created a good punk pair of jeans.
-
Step 2
Cut slashes or holes in a t-shirt in a chaotic pattern. It is perfect if the t-shirt looks like it has been shredded by a monster; in fact, for a more severe effect, you can use red fabric paint around the slashes to suggest blood
-
Step 3
Put on your heavy black boots and a leather jacket, or a custom-designed denim jacket, to complete the outfit. Chains and metals studs on the jacket are a good touch.
-
Step 4
Dye your hair in bright, head-turning colors. Colors for the punk look are usually colors not common to normal hair. In other words, bright orange, fuchsia, blood red, or purple are good colors for creating a punk look.
-
Step 5
Style your hair in an extreme style. Heavy duty gels or hair wax are a must for good punker hair. The classic Mohawk works well, but you don't have to have a Mohawk to be punk. Take any hair style, put a lot of hair styling product in and make your brightly colored punk hair stand up--and you will stand out in the crowd.
-
Step 6
Get a permanent or temporary tattoo. Anarchy symbols work great for the punk look but are overdone. You should get a tattoo that expresses who you are and what you are about. Tattoos are so common outside the punk scene now that it would be more rebellious not to have a tattoo, really. But most in the punk scene do have tattoos and body piercings.
-
Step 7
Apply dark eyeliner and some dark eye shadow--punk guys commonly wear at least eyeliner. This step is optional if you aren't comfortable wearing cosmetics
