Step 1
Set the stage. Picking the right seats is an important step in making the first move. You and your date must feel comfortable with your location in order to feel confident enough for any movie action to take place. Choose seats in the back corner of the movie theater for the greatest amount of privacy. Make sure you’re sitting directly beside your date and aren’t distracted by moviegoers in your vicinity. This includes friends who may try to ruin any of your move making attempts.
-
Step 2
Build confidence by sharing a few laughs. The goal is to break the ice before making any moves. This will relax both of you and shed any awkwardness that may exist. Use the movie to spark a witty joke to share with your date. Casually lean in to whisper the joke so that only your date can hear it. This will help keep your interactions private and quiet.
-
Step 3
Remember movie theater standard moves. Everyone has seen the old favorite of going for popcorn at the same time as your date, whether in person or on the big screen. Although these moves may seem corny, they have been around so long for a reason. Use your knowledge of standard moves to formulate your approach. Tailor your approach to the personality of your date and the movie scene if possible.
-
Step 4
Watch for the appropriate moment to make your move. While you should be watching the movie, you must keep track of your own situation. It might not be wise to go in for the kiss when your date’s mouth is full of candy or, they’re laughing hysterically. Play off the mood of the movie and your interactions with your date to find the right time to act. Remember, there is always a right to time to act. It may just take patience to find it.

Step 5
Go in for the kill. Make your move without hesitation to avoid backing out at the last second. Whether you desire a passionate kiss or simple handholding from your date, confidence must guide your actions. Besides, it’s dark in the movies, so rejection won’t be as harsh as in the broad daylight.
