Format your document to be faxed from your computer to a fax modem. You can fax a number of file types, including PDFs and Word documents. To see what your fax will look like before you try to send it, click on the “File” menu, then on “Print Preview.” This will bring up the format the pages will take once you fax them to someone. Make sure the data doesn’t fall outside the margins. Anything outside the margins can get cut off during transmission.

Click on “File” and “Print.” This will bring up your print options. Look for the fax option. If you don’t have a fax option, this means you will need to buy or download and install a third-party computer fax software program like Mighty Fax. You also have the option of using online fax services like “eFax”, which have you upload your documents to their website or fax platform and from there it is sent to the fax modem of your choice.

Dial the fax number or enter it into the online fax platform. Enter information for your cover sheet and send your fax by clicking “Print” or “Send.”
