How to Fax a Document From a Computer
Today, every business application is streamlined and networked. While in the past you would have to print out a document and then fax it using a fax machine, now just about anyone can fax a document directly from his computer, as long as it has a phone line or DSL line connected to it. If you need to fax a document from your computer, all you have to do is follow a few simple steps.

Click on the “File” menu and then click on “Print.” This will bring up your printing options. Again, notice that you have a fax option in this drop-down menu, which will most likely be named for the fax software program you have installed. Select the fax software option.

Follow the step by step faxing instructions that pop up. These instructions will ask you to enter information for the fax cover sheet including the name and fax number of the recipient, your name and fax number and a brief message explaining what the fax is about. You will also be asked to enter your dialing information including the fax recipient’s fax number. When everything has been entered, all you have to do is click on "Send". The fax software will connect to your phone line, dial the fax number and send your fax.

Wait for a confirmation that your fax was successful. Depending on the software that you have, you may receive a confirmation page that you can print out for your records or just a simple pop-up window that says your fax was successful. Close all windows and you are done.
