Instructions

    • 1

Gather the materials needed for the project. With the measuring tape, measure the length of your collar and the length of the neck area you are attaching it to.

    • 2

Determine what is the middle of both pieces of material. Pin the collar to the neck of the blouse with the straight pins all the way around on both sides of the middle.

    • 3

Thread the needle. Bring both ends of the thread together and tie them in a knot.

    • 4

Beginning at the middle of the back of the neck, begin stitching the collar to the neck of the blouse. Use a whip stitch to stitch the collar. Try to hide the stitching as well as possible by not catching too many threads of the blouse at a time and going through the crochet portion of the collar. When you get to the end of the collar, tie a knot in the thread as close to the collar as you can. Make sure the knot is on the underneath side of the collar. Repeat Step 4 for the other half of the collar.

Tips & Warnings

  • Beginning your stitching in the middle of the neck keeps the collar from twisting while you are sewing.

  • Make sure your collar is in the middle of the blouse.

  • If your blouse already has a collar, you can still sew the crocheted collar on it to dress it up with this method.

  • Do not remove the original collar from the blouse. This will leave unraveling edges and you will not be able to get your crocheted collar sewed onto the blouse.
