How to Make a Table Centerpiece

When making a table centerpiece, remember to keep it low in height because you will want to see over it when sitting at the table with others. Table centerpieces should be complimentary to the decor in the room and be proportioned to the size of the table. With the guidelines given here, you will learn how to create a table center piece by using artificial greenery that is versatile enough to remain on display throughout the changing seasons.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Short vase, urn or basket
  • Floral foam
  • Variety of greenery
  • Sprawling ivy or vine (optional)
  1. Step 1

Position and secure the floral foam to the bottom of your planter. The foam should be evenly distributed on the base of the planter. If you want added height to the center, stack foam securely in the middle.

  2. Step 2

Create a foundation. Work from the bottom up. If you choose to work with sprawling ivy or some sort of vine, randomly position it around your centerpiece at this point. Secure the ivy deeply into the foam.

  3. Step 3

Add the main pieces. Whether you are using big leaves or flowers for the main attraction of your centerpiece, use an odd number of stems and place them randomly throughout the arrangement.

  4. Step 4

Add small pieces of flowers or filler greenery to cover any gaps in the arrangement. If you choose to add seasonal additions to your centerpiece, adding them as fillers would be a nice touch.
