Asking a guy to dance takes courage. The fear of rejection stops many women from asking. What many women don't realize is that guys face those same fears. Most men would love to have a woman take the initiative and ask them to dance. The worst thing that can happen is he says no. The best thing is he could say yes. Don't let a shy guy slip through your fingers because you don't know how to ask him to dance. Ask him to dance and you might end up meeting your Prince Charming. You can have a wonderful story to tell your grandkids when they ask how you both met.

Instructions

1. Find out if he is interested. The easiest way is to make eye contact and smile. If he is interested he will smile back. Look away and then see if he makes eye contact again. If he does or if he is staring at you he is probably interested.

2. Read his body language. Is he standing with his friends nodding his head with the music? If he is then he probably would like to get out there and boogie. Asking him to dance might be just what he wants you to do.

3. Engage him in conversation. It is easier to slip in a casual "Want to dance?" if you are already chatting with him. Don't walk up to a group of guys and asking one to dance out of the blue unless he has been watching and smiling at you.

4. Remember that rejection doesn't mean he doesn't like you. It could mean that he doesn't like to dance. If you ask him to dance and he says no say "OK" and smile. This will give him a chance to chat with you or offer to buy you a drink. If he doesn't say anything else just tell him to have a good night and walk away. It's his loss. Move on and ask someone else.

• A drink can provide courage but too many can make you look foolish on the dance floor.

• Don't make fun of him if he doesn't dance well or try to teach him. Dancing is about having fun.

• If a guy has a girl with him, don't ask him to dance even if he smiles at you and makes eye contact.
