Whether you've got a brand new lawnmower you can't get started, or you're trying to remember how to start a lawnmower because you forgot. These simple instructions will take the technical mumbo jumbo out and teach you how to start a lawnmower.

• Gas
• Oil

Instructions

1. Remove all branches, toys, rocks, lawn furniture and other items from the yard before you start your lawnmower. The blade is very sharp and can shred these items up, creating a big mess. Also, these things can fly out at great speeds, presenting safety hazards while you're mowing.

2. Check your lawnmower to be sure that it has gas and oil in it. A brand new lawnmower will have no gas in the tank and no oil. Usually, lawnmower manufacturers will send a bottle of oil that holds exactly the same amount as the engine, so that you can fill it up without measuring or checking the dipstick. Read the instruction manual, though, just in case.

3. 

   Press the primer button 3 to 5 times to begin pumping a little gas into the engine. The button is generally black and rubber looking. It's usually only necessary to use this button when the engine is cold. If you're re-starting the lawnmower, then you shouldn't have to prime the engine.

4. Bring the two handles of the lawnmower together. one isn't really a handle, it's more like a gar's gas pedal. They must be together in order to start the lawnmower. Coincidentally, stopping the engine involves simply letting go so it stalls.

5. Grasp the handle of the starter rope and pull it quickly and firmly. Yanking the cord causes the engine to turn over, and then it just keeps going.
