How to Make a Bamboo Wedding Arch
Weddings are glorious events that every woman looks forward to. Some have the day all planned out in their minds from the time they were little girls. For some it's all about the church wedding, but others prefer something outside. The wedding arch is customary for outdoor weddings as it substitutes the altar of a church. A bamboo arch can be a great addition to continue the naturalistic approach and feel of an outdoor wedding. Does this Spark an idea?

- Bamboo
- Water
- Floral wire
- Floral tape
- Hot glue gun
- Flowers

Purchase bamboo sticks. You'll need at least eight pieces but ten to twelve is better and each stick should be at least eight feet tall. Cut two pieces of bamboo in half and soak them in a large tub of water. Let them soak for at least three hours or until the bamboo has become slightly flexible.

Lay four or five sticks of bamboo on the ground side by side. Starting at about one foot up tie a piece of twine around the first pole. Tie it in a knot then continue with the free end to connecting the next pole and wrapping it around the pole and tying another knot. Continue to the next two or three poles the same way as the first two. For extra strength, continue back and double tie the poles so you end up at the first pole again.

Repeat the tying process in step two every foot up on the pole. Then do the same for another set of four to five bamboo sticks and repeat the tying sequence. Remove the cut sticks from the water. Gently bend the sticks into an arch. Hold in place until they naturally form the slight arch. This may mean clamping the pieces in place or setting objects on them to secure their positioning. Once set tie the pieces together with twine to form a four stick wide arch.

Instruct a friend to hold one of the twine wrapped bamboo sticks on their side on the ground. Place the end of one arch on top of the bamboo sticks siding. Connect the two pieces by interweaving floral wire between the two objects. Repeat on the opposite side. Cover with floral tape if you need more security to keep the pieces together. Stand the arch upright.

Decorate the arch with flowers, fillers, leaves, tulle and ribbons. Use floral wire to secure the flowers and other decorative items to the arch. That's it! You now have a beautiful arch for a wedding!
