Instructions

    • 1

Improve the strength of your nails from within by taking 300 micrograms of biotin vitamin B4 times per day. This vitamin is often used to strengthen horse hooves, which are made from the same substance as human nails--keratin.

    • 2

Increase your zinc intake. You don't have to take a supplement to increase zinc. Simply eat a hard boiled egg each day, and increase your milk intake by 8 ounces. These foods are rich in zinc.

    • 3

Buff your nails daily, or massage the nail. If you have a nail buffer, swiftly rub it back and forth on the flat surface of the finger nail. This increases circulation to the nail bed and stimulates growth. People who massage their nails have nails that grow quicker than those who do not.

    • 4

Rub a tiny dot of olive oil directly on your nails each night before you go to bed. Moisturizing your nails is important for their health. Especially during the winter, brittle nails can crack and break. Olive oil makes them more supple and prevents cracking.

    • 5

Eat less sugar and saturated fat. Your overall health affects your nails health. Refined sugar and saturated fats are bad for your body, so they are bad for your nails. In fact, one of the first signs of poor nutrition is the appearance of unhealthy nails.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always wear rubber gloves when you clean and do dishes. The chemicals and the constant water are damaging to the nails.

  • Don't use nail polish remover with acetone. This substance can severely dry out your nails.
