1
Auction off your gold coins at an online auction site such as eBay (see Resources below). This is certainly a traditional favorite when it comes to selling anything online, be it gold coins or anything else. There is a good reason for why people prefer this method of selling items online. The person who is willing to pay the most is the one who gets your gold coins, which means that you will be getting maximum value out of your gold. It takes less than 5 minutes to set up an online auction, and from that point all you have to do is sit back and watch the bids roll in.

Place an add on Craigslist (see Resources below). You can post an ad in any metropolitan area you wish, but Craigslist rules prevent you from posting the same ad in multiple cities, so you should choose the one that gives you the greatest chances of selling your gold coins. Ideally, you should place an add in your local area so that you can avoid shipping charges and have someone simply come over to buy your coins (exercising common sense, of course). The best thing about advertising on Craigslist is that it is absolutely free.

Visit the Bullion Direct website and list your gold coins on their patented “Nucleo Exchange” (see Resources below). The Nucleo Exchange is an open marketplace where dealers, distributors, refiners and the public at large go to buy and sell gold bullion. Posting your gold coins for sale on Bullion Direct’s Nucleo Exchange will bring you instant offers from serious buyers who will pay top dollar for your gold coins.

Sell your gold coins to the American Precious Metals Exchange (APMEX). Unlike many other bullion dealers, APMEX actually takes into account the collector value of your coins when making an offer (see Resources below). While they do not make it immediately apparent on their site that they will buy your gold coins, and quick email or call to their toll free number is all it takes. Be sure to let them know precisely the size/weight of your coins, the type, the year and the condition. This will help make sure you get the highest possible price for your gold coins.

Visit the precious metal store at Kitco.com (see Resources below). Although Kitco does not typically buy gold and silver directly from the public, they do make an exception to this rule in the case of gold bullion, which includes both gold coins and gold bars. While it is easy to sell gold coins to Kitco, you can only reasonably expect to receive the melt value of the gold, so you may wish to try to sell somewhere else first and reserve Kitco as a last resort.
