Things You'll Need:
- Tailored suit
- Matching shoes
-
Step 1
Find something conservative. Choose a suit that has a matching jacket and skirt or pants. Avoid clothes with pills or lace. Choose solid colors or patterns that won't take attention from you.
-
Step 2
Choose a color to wear. The conservative, tailored, solid color suits are best. Stay away from pinks or garish colors. If it's summer, go with a stone or tan shade. In the fall and winter, go with navy, black, gray or brown. Sometimes maroon or burgundy can also work.
-
Step 3
Whether you're in a skirt or pants, wear comfortable shoes that match the suit. Black and nave work best as accent colors. If you're wearing brown, green or maroon, consider wearing a brown shoe. Choose a shoe that is a solid color shoe with a heel no higher than 2 inches.

Step 4
If you're bringing material to show to the interviewer, bring it in a conservative briefcase or tote. The bag may have a mild stripe or a wood or woven handle; it doesn't have to be leather. It should not be lacy and should not show a wild print. Leather, tweed, cotton and vinyl are fine; polyester is also usable.
