How to Make an Oatmeal and Yogurt Facial
Oatmeal is found in many types of commercial skincare products. Oatmeal contains beta glucan, a soluble fiber from the cell wells of the oat kernel. A study published in 2005 in the "International Journal of Cosmetic Science" (vol. 27; issue 5; p. 292) shows that beta glucan can penetrate the skin. This enables oats to improve the appearance of skin by reducing fine wrinkles. You can combine ordinary oats with yogurt to create a moisturizing facial appropriate for all types of skin. Does this Spark an idea?

Tips & Warnings
If you have oily or acne-prone skin, add ½ tbsp. of lemon juice to the oatmeal scrub and sweep the skin with tea tree oil before applying sunscreen or moisturizer. If you have sensitive skin, add 3 to 5 drops of lavender essential oil to the yogurt mask. If you have dry skin, add 3 to 5 drops of rose water to the yogurt mask. Items such as tea tree oil and rose water are available at most health food stores.
If you have sensitive skin, do a patch test. Dab the oatmeal and honey scrub on your inner elbow and let it remain for several hours. Do the same with plain organic yogurt. If you develop any skin irritation or rashes, do not use either for the skin facial.
Do not sleep with the oatmeal scrub on your skin overnight.
Use organic ingredients whenever possible to avoid pesticides.
