How to Knit A Coin Purse
Knitting small and simple projects are easy ways to master the skill of knitting. A coin purse is a great project for a knitting beginner to gain experience. A pouch this size can be used for many things such as a lipstick case or photo ID holder. For the purpose of this article, the coin purse will be done with a garter stitch which is simply knitting each row.
Things You'll Need
- Yarn (your choice of color)
- #8 Knitting Needles
- Button
- Thread
- Sewing Needle

Cast on 13 stitches. Then knit the first row 5 inches in length.

Knit rows. Knit continuously for 5 rows. Be careful to keep the stitches close together.

Make the buttonhole. The sixth row will be the buttonhole for the closure of the coin purse. Knit 6 stitches. Move yarn over and knit 2 stitches together. Complete the row by knitting to the end of the row.

Finish project. Knit for two more rows, then cast off. Fold the coin purse in half , making sure that the front and back are even. When making the sides even, do not include the flap. The front and back of purse should measure 2 1/2 inches each.

Sew. With a needle and thread, sew the sides of the purse closed, remembering to keep the stitches neat and tight. Locate the proper position for the button and sew it on securely.
