How to Become a Hardcore Hot Spot Dancer
A "hardcore hot-spot" dancer is someone, usually a teenager, who frequents nightspots featuring hardcore and emo music. (Despite the racy-sounding name, this type of dancing has nothing to do with strip clubs.)A progression from the punk rockers of just a few years ago, typical hardcore hot-spot dancers are best know for their passion for a particular band. In fact, they can be likened to the groupies of the late 1960s and early 1970s rock-and-roll era, but with a stronger attachment to the music rather than the sex and drugs of the scene. If you're really into becoming a hardcore hot-spot dancer, here are some things you might want to try.

1
Find a band that really tugs at you. The band needs to be on the cutting edge of where it’s at musically, either hardcore or emo (a style of hardcore punk). You’ll need to fit in while declaring your independence.
-
2
Avoid tight pants, dramatic eye makeup and flailing your arms just to demonstrate movement. These are sure signs of kids who are scene bobbing. These are not serious hardcore hot-spot dancers. Who wants to drop in on a mosh pit wearing tight pants?

3
Identify then develop your own unique style that expresses the music of the band you’re following.
-
4
Recognize and enjoy that what you really are doing is putting on a performance to the beat of the music played by the band you’re following. Most importantly, really get to know your hardcore music, the politics of the scene you’re involved with and the individual choices of those dancing. This is an independent, yet shared, activity.

5
Always remember that being a hardcore hot-spot dancer is a fairly nonviolent and unthreatening activity, similar to punk skanking. The emphasis is on style and variations of arm movements.
