Making a building block picture frame adds a charming touch to the way you display personal photos. It also adds some color to any room. These frames are great for kid’s rooms, as gifts for new parents, or as gifts to grandparents or any relative (along with a photo of your children placed inside). Building blocks come in a number of vibrant colors that make the frame and photo stand out.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Small plastic building blocks
  • Wooden frame
  • Glue gun with glue sticks
  1. Step 1

Get a simple wooden frame. You can use the natural wood frames or frames painted in a color that coordinates with the project or room colors. Building blocks will work on standing or hanging picture frames.

  2. Step 2

Pick the colors you want to use and gather or buy a bunch of small plastic building blocks.

  3. Step 3

Plug in and heat up the glue gun. Insert the stick of glue. Begin gluing the blocks around the front surface of the frame. Space them around the frame then begin to fill it in with building blocks.

  4. Step 4

Use different pieces and sizes of building blocks to give it a more varied look. Face the pieces in all different directions for more texture and variety. You can cover the whole surface or just put scattered plastic building blocks around your frame.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pull or cut off all the loose glue strands or threads. They look messy.
  • Be careful to place the hot glue gun on a temperature safe surface like a plate when you set it down. Do not touch the metal tip. It heats up just like an iron and can burn skin easily. Use caution when using this around children.
